Welcome to the Second International Medical Symposium of El Petern!

Symposium Details

  • Date: January 30, 2026, from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm at La Casona Del Lago.

  • Program Directors: Dr. S. Huerta and Dr. C. Ortíz.

  • Keynote and Presentations

  • The symposium opens with a keynote address by Dr. Ortiz and Dr. Huerta.

  • Presentations cover various topics, including local anesthesia for hernia repair, burn survival strategies, pediatric appendicitis, trauma organization, and laparoscopic techniques.

  • Notable speakers include Dr. Alejandra Garcia, Dr. Lurdes Santizo, and Dr. Victor Francisco Corzo, among others.

Publication and Participation

  • Participants must submit a 250-word abstract by January 1, 2026, for publication in the Aid Via Action Global Health Journal.

  • Full manuscripts are due by January 13, 2026, and will undergo peer review.

  • Credit for participation will be provided to Guatemalan attendees, who must register to receive it.

Additional Information

  • Changes to the program must be communicated by December 15, 2025.

  • All talks are limited to 25 minutes, with a 5-minute Q&A session.

  • Lunch is included in the registration fee.

 

Registration:

This year, registration will be performed online ONLY. There will be a registration fee of 200.00 GTQ. This fee will apply to all activities, including lunch. Students will receive a discount and can register for 25.00 GTQ. If there are any changes, please inform the course director via email no later than December 15, 2025. Once the official publication of the itinerary has been published, there will be no changes to the assigned day and time for the talk.
